RESIDENTIAL

Our Residential focus is Mold Testing, Asbestos Testing, Lead Testing and Clearance Testing in homes in Toronto and surrounding area that may have indoor air quality / environmental issues. As well as performing Designated Substance Surveys in accordance with O. Reg 490/09 for residential homes that will be or are currently undergoing renovation.

COMMERCIAL

Our Commercial focus is performing Designated Substance Surveys, Asbestos Management Surveys, Indoor Air Quality and Water Testing, Odour Assessments, Mold Testing, Asbestos Testing and Lead Testing, as well as Clearance Sampling.

General

Mold/Allergens (Indoor Air Quality)

We are Water Damage Restoration and Applied Microbial Remediation Technician Certified by The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration (WRT & AMRT Certified, IICRC.) – Register Number: 173839. The IICRC is the recognized certifying body for the Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Industry, now known as TheCleanTrust (www.iicrc.org).

The Healthy Abode Inc. is IAC2 (International Association of Certified Indoor Air Consultants; www.iac2.org) certified – Cert. # IAC2-02-0351. The IAC2 is the non-profit, certifying body for home and building inspectors who have fulfilled certain educational and testing requirements including those in the area of indoor air quality, specifically mold inspections/testing.

IAC2 certified inspectors are all members in good standing of the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) which is the largest inspection association in the world, with strict membership requirements (www.nachi.org). IAC2 certified inspectors have all completed strict educational requirements and training.

For mold testing and allergen testing, The Healthy Abode Inc. follows a strict sampling procedure, approved by our laboratory, to obtain all Mold/Allergen samples. We only use professional sampling and testing equipment.

Lead

The Healthy Abode Inc. is certified for the inspection and remediation of lead-based paint, lead dust and lead debris by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (www.epa.gov.) We are certified in lead-safe work practices as is pertains to the mandatory RRP Safety for Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (40 CFR) introduced as a mandatory certification by law in the United States in 2010. This RRP certification applies to all inspectors, risk assessors, supervisors, project managers, abatement workers, renovators and dust sampling technicians.

For lead testing, The Healthy Abode Inc. follows a strict sampling procedure, approved by our laboratory, to obtain all Lead samples. We only use professional sampling and testing equipment.

Asbestos

In 2005 the Ontario government created Ontario Regulation 278/05 Designated Substance – Asbestos on Construction Projects and in Buildings and Repair Operations. These new Ontario regulations were created to replace the previous regulation, Ontario Regulation 838/90 which had been in place since 1985.

The Healthy Abode Inc. inspectors have successfully completed the Asbestos Abatement Worker program 253W – Certification # 705412-01p, approved by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), designed for Type 3 Asbestos Abatement work. The Healthy Abode Inc. is aware of and operates within, the confines of O. Reg 278/05. We are classified as Type 1 asbestos workers, and work within the rules and regulations that pertain to Type 1 asbestos workers/supervisors.



For asbestos testing, The Healthy Abode Inc. follows a strict sampling procedure, approved by our laboratory, to obtain all Asbestos samples. We only use professional sampling and testing equipment.

Designated Substance Survey

In 2009 the Ontario government created Ontario Regulation 490/09 Designated Substances. The Healthy Abode Inc. performs Designated Substance Surveys and Reports for Residential and Commercial Construction/Demolition sites, in accordance with O. Reg 490/09.

Laboratory

We use a CALA & NVLAP certified and independent Canadian third party laboratory for all sample analysis.
